That's right. It's the end of the school year here in Korea. In the dead of Winter. OK, it's the end of winter, but it's snowing outside.
The sixth graders are upstairs destroying their projects from the past 9 months by tearing them into pieces in the hallway. It looks like a war zone. The lower grades are watching a movie in their homerooms. I have not taught a single class today.
Last week was the last week of classes for the school year. We played some fun games such as hangman, and Bananagrams, and watched movies. We mostly just sat around and talked. Ironically, the students spoke more English last week than they have in the past 9 months--authentic English that is. They've spouted many-a English phrases from the textbooks over the past 100 days :-).
My after school students came to class last week with about 5lbs of textbooks in their bags. They have to carry their books for the next year back home, and they'll also have a set in the classroom. And just like that, two weeks from now, there will be a fresh set of grade 3-6's....
