Before I made the decision to quit my job and embark on a journey half way around the world, my mentors told me there would be days and even weeks, where I'd absolutely miss everything about home. This was one of those weeks. At least 3 or 4 days this week I was absolutely wishing for a few things from the states. I always tell my little brats bak home to WRITE about how they feel, or write me a letter when they hate me for 30 seconds, so I'm taking my own advice and will just briefly explain the pictures I've posted and get over myself. I knew this would come and this is how I am choosing to deal with it.
1. My church. My soul needs to be fed just as much as my body, and the fact that the churches here are not to my liking are killing me. I've resorted to audio sermons.
2. Miles: I see so may stray dogs here, and they remind me of Miles!!😭😭😭I definitely miss his little big bark, and feisty pit bull wannabe personality. i will not adopt because I don't know the fees associated with transporting the animal to the states.
3. Avocados. Need I say more? They're at Costco here, but they're just about $3-5 and I can't eat that many avocados in a week. Well, I could, but I don't need too haha!
4. The stepmill! I have about 5 or 6 stepmill buddies back home. Many a life issues/problems were solved on that machine, including cellulite....I'll take one of those please.
5. An oven. I'd like to bake, or even just use the stove for hearing like we used to at 6021 Holway St. Nope. Gotta turn on the central heating.
6. A black hair store. Duh. I should have just bought the whole Sally's. Coconut oil will do for now.
7. My queen princess bed. Yes, I said that. Lol. It's soft, it's big enough for me to roll around/not fall off. Nothing else is really needed.
8. Froyo dates. It's a 20 minute bus ride for me to the nearest froyo shop. I guess it's a sign I shouldn't make it a habit.
9. French tip nails. It's about $100 for those. I'll wait.
10. My teachers lounge! Ahh! Who wants to eat in the cafeteria with kids screaming? Not I, said the brown cow.
11. Comcast: on demand anyone? I have watch just about every movie on youtube. Lol. Please send me seasons of awesome shows. Or suggestions for shows to watch!!!
12: kombucha. Life saver.
13. A good ole cup a joe in a paper cup, full fat coconut milk, stevia. Peets please. For less than $4
14. A dump. A place where you can just put your trash and then pay people to deal
With it.
15. My real life Sunday dinners with my forever growing family. The Skype chats are cool, the kakao chats are nice. But ld like to watch both of my sisters' growing baby bumps in person😩.
And done. Can you tell I've learned to appreciate every single thing I've ever had in America? Even when I had "nothing?"
Good night!
