I've been in the states for 3.5 weeks. I'm sure you're wondering what I've been up to for the past few weeks since returning to US soil.
When I stepped off the plane, it was weird. I was used to everything being in Korean, so to realize that I actually understood what I read was a little strange.
OK OK. So, I got off the plane, found my baggage, and waited for my mom to pick me up.
It was loud. I thought, "Why do I understand everyone's conversation?" ahhh!! too much.
Driving; Also a bit unstable for about 2 minutes, then I remembered again.
My brother in law heard that I just wanted turkey avocado sandwiches, so the entire family came to my parents house and we had a little feast. Thanks Rommel :-).
3/2/14
Went shopping for american groceries with my mother.
3/3/14
Monday(1st full day back on US soil). I met up with Collette, who happened to be in town for her birthday, and we went to our old hangout spot, Fentons, for some burgers and ice cream. I also called the gym to activate my membership and reactivated my cell phone service. I made a phone call to my old district to get my substitute information so I could sub for my friend the following week.
3/4/14
Tuesday
Nothing special. Spent the whole day recreating resumes and cover letters, and panicking about making money for the next month. I also learned that the school "couldn't process" part of my paycheck. So a good chunk of money is in my bank account in Korea. Foolishness. More Collette and Brian time.
3/5/14
More resume and cover letters
3/6/14
Went to Hana Japan for Collette's birthday. Came up with a game plan for removing myself from my parents' house.
3/7/14
Substitute teaching. I taught my first class since being away from an American Classroom: 4th grade. It was a blast. Like I had never left.
3/14-3/21/14- Long tem sub. 4th grade. Loved it...Obsessed. Still don't wanna EVER touch elementary school unless it's grade 5 or 6. :-) this class was awesome.
At this point I've substituted and started training clients pretty much every day. I've interviewed for two school districts, and both went very well. I've also picked up some east bay subbing apps, so I don't have to drive to San Jose to sub.
Life isn't as scary as I thought it would be. I pretty much committed to staying busy and producing income as quickly as possible, and I think I've accomplished that.
As far as this blog. What am I supposed to do with this?
